Marsh LP Gas, a Greeneville-based supplier of propane gas throughout much of
East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, has been ranked 50th in the nation among
such companies in terms of its sales.
LP Gas magazine recently ranked the local company nationally, reporting that
in 2003, Marsh LP Gas sold 3,665,000 retail gallons of propane gas.
Sonny W. Marsh, the primary owner of the company founded in 1987, said it is
the first time of which he is aware that Marsh LP Gas has achieved such a high
national ranking.
He explained that Marsh LP Gas does not just sell propane gas in and around
Greene County, but has a sales network extending south all the way to Knoxville
and north well into Southwest Virginia.
LP Gas reported that Marsh LP Gas has 4,512 customers, 22 employees and storage
capacity for 180,000 gallons of propane.
Chris Marsh, the company’s president and CEO, said that not only is Marsh
LP Gas ranked 50th in propane sales, it ranks 24th among the nation’s
family-owned propane gas companies.
The magazine listed these other officers of Marsh LP Gas: Stanley Crawford,
Greeneville manager; Roger Oaks, Kingsport manager; Dave Duffield, Abingdon,
Va., manager; Archie English, sales/credit manager; and Larry O’Bryant,
district manager.
